
Lester Hough is a pianist, composer, conductor and educator.
He graduated from the University of Hull with specialisms in performance and composition.
He to has taken a prominent role in the city, teaching in middle and senior schools, and sixth form college, where he staged performances and musicals.
He has taught the piano to pupils on a one-to-one basis for over 50 years refining his craft. His background in composition brings a deep understanding of music to his students.
He was the author of the Hofnote Aural Training website which pioneered online aural training in the early 2000’s.
Currently director of Hull Piano School, Lester studied the piano under the Oxford piano teacher Vincent Packford, a pupil of Harold Craxton.
Lester has continued to develop as a composer.
In recent years, premières of his works have taken place in Cuba (International Festival of Contemporary Music), Germany (Carl Orff Festival), Ukraine, Denmark, Netherlands and the UK.
His music is published by Universal Edition, Vienna and can be heard on Lester Hough on Soundcloud.
